DCE and latency issues in the cloud

In my last post I spoke about the importance of Ethernet. Having withstood every layer 2 (and even layer 3) onslaught and coming out with flying colors, Ethernet is certainly the way to go but for DCNs and clouds there is a lot of optimizatiion that needs to be done.
Now think about large corporations whose life line is the IT operations that help enable convergence as well as integrate. If you want to put everything on Ethernet then the key to that is to make it really carrier class from end-to-end. There is a lot of work done on making Ethernet carrier class - but these solutions are only in the metro area or may be if you extend those, in the long haul as well. But when you talk of enterprises, the carrier class features should be within the campuses as well. wonder why there is no talk about carrier Ether in the access - a space that would have a lot to contribute to in terms of application and hence revenue as well.
